3PB Direct

How much experience do you have in this area?

I have nearly ten years experience as a barrister specialising in employment law and children law disputes.

How would you describe your approach to working with clients?

I’m known for having a down-to-earth and practical approach with clients, combined with being a knowledgeable, skilful and a tenacious advocate. With my advice early in a dispute, you can avoid litigation altogether and/or strengthen your position to ensure the best possible result if litigation cannot be avoided.

Legal Expertise

I am an employment law barrister with a national practice, accepting instructions in all areas of employment law.

I act for employees and employers and have appeared in tribunals (at preliminary and final hearings) nationally involving issues such as unfair dismissal (including constructive unfair dismissal), TUPE claims (including failure to inform and consult), discrimination (including direct and indirect discrimination, discrimination arising from disability, failure to make reasonable adjustments, harassment, victimisation and equal pay), unlawful deductions from wages, commission issues, redundancy, whistleblowing and substantive jurisdictional issues. My practice also includes High Court injunctive work including issues concerning restrictive covenants.

I have been instructed by a wide range of clients, ranging from individuals to local authorities, recruitment agencies, and companies in the leisure, hospitality, tourism, retail and pharmaceutical industries. I also have experience acting for charitable organisations.

I have a busy practice drafting pleadings and providing written advice at various stages of litigation on a range of issues including advice on prospects and quantum. I also have experience drafting Notices of Appeal and appearing in the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

I understand the pressures that taking or defending a case in the employment tribunal can take on individuals and businesses. I am a tireless advocate but I also pride myself on being able to give clear, pragmatic advice.

I am a barrister with significant experience in all matters of private children work.

I accept instructions from direct access for private children family work. Having completed pupillage in 2016 I spent the next 3 years practising predominantly in public and private children cases.

I acted for local authorities, parents and guardians in public law work and acted for parents and guardians in private law cases, encompassing all stages of proceedings from First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointments to Final Hearings.

I am alive to the sensitive nature of proceedings involving what can at times be a constantly moving objective to reach a desired outcome. I understand that agreements or outcomes need to be workable and achievable for separated parents and not only am I a determined advocate in court but I pride myself on excellent negotiation skills.

Whilst my practice has moved to taking on employment tribunal work in 2019 I maintain a keen interest in family law, having acted in complex proceedings in the intervening years and have returned to accepting instructions in an area which I know very well.
