3PB Direct

How much experience do you have in this area?

I first became involved in Employment Tribunal cases in 2011, before I qualified as a barrister. I was called to the Bar in 2012 and I started a unique pupillage (training) scheme, which involved spending six months at the Free Representation Unit, representing claimants in employment and discrimination claims, in 2013. I have specialised in Employment Law ever since then.

From 2015, I also began to gain experience of fitness to practise hearings involving professional regulators, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council. I now have years of experience in this area.

Legal Expertise

During my training to become a barrister I spent six months at the Free Representation Unit, representing claimants in employment and discrimination claims. This grounding enabled me to develop expertise across a wide range of Employment Tribunal claims, from unfair dismissal and unpaid wages, to whistleblowing, multi-day discrimination and TUPE related claims. I also have experience of representing groups of claimants and handling claims against multiple respondents.

I also offer advice and representation to businesses and other organisations and I have recently delivered a training day to HR professionals who wanted to gain an understanding of the TUPE Regulations 2006.

In addition to representing my clients in the Employment Tribunal, I am experienced in dealing with appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

I offer advice and representation to professionals under investigation by their employers or professional regulators. I have particular experience of cases

involving healthcare professionals such as nurses, midwives, doctors, dentists and those regulated by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I have experience of cases involving allegations of: misconduct, lack of competence, criminal convictions/cautions, ill health and insufficient knowledge of the English language.

Through a secondment at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (‘NMC’), I gained experience of all types of fitness to practise related hearings including: interim order applications, substantive order reviews, restoration hearings and registration appeals as well as substantive hearings. I have conducted a number of lengthy and complex cases which have involved multiple nurses/midwives, death or serious patient harm, dishonesty, failing care homes, contested expert evidence and a wide range of other issues.
