I specialise in financial disputes following relationship breakdowns. My work includes cases involving farms, agricultural land, and rural businesses; companies and business interests; significant property portfolios in the UK and abroad; inherited wealth, family trusts, and other non‑matrimonial assets; pensions; and high‑income or disputed maintenance cases. I also deal with cases involving other people who have an interest in the dispute (interveners or third‑party respondents) and claims for financial support for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act.
I am experienced in disputes over property and inheritance, including those between unmarried partners under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act (TOLATA). I act in contested probate and estate cases involving issues such as undue influence, forgery, and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. My cases often involve challenges to the validity of wills, questions about mental capacity, and claims based on promises that have not been kept.
Recently, I successfully secured a favourable judgment in a five‑day contested estate trial involving the validation of a will and the dismissal of a counterclaim under proprietary estoppel. I have also acted in long‑running probate disputes where my clients successfully defended allegations of undue influence and forgery. I am skilled at resolving disputes through negotiation and mediation, but I also have significant experience in multi‑day trials when matters cannot be settled.
