3PB Direct

In particular I’m known for taking on very complex cases in High Court care proceedings involving serious allegations of homicide, physical and sexual abuse.

I’m also highly experienced in complex financial cases involving welfare and financial disputes over children and international relocation.

How much experience do you have in this area?

I have 20 years’ experience in criminal, civil and family law at the highest levels and in the most complex and demanding cases.

How would you describe your approach to working with clients?

I approach cases with what many would describe as a “forensic manner” with a very methodical approach to preparation, detail, and effective presentation of the key issues in any particular dispute. I’m able to offer sensitive sound practical advice backed up by detailed preparation and robust Court presentation. As a result I’m highly respected by both my opponents and the judiciary.

Legal Expertise

I’m able to help you with public law and private law children cases involving adoption including cases where there are allegations of the death of a child (parent or carer), very serious non-accidental physical injury, sexual abuse and trafficking of children.

I’ve long acted for abuse complainants across the country involving strategies of sexual abuse, neglect and death in cases including religious orders, in children’s homes and schools, in foster care, teachers, families, and in sporting and voluntary and media organisations. I’ve represented adults and children abused in long term care and for learning disabled children and young people, as well as in claims against local authorities for failing to remove children at risk.

My expertise also involves cases with an international element whether it involves the relocation and abduction of children or challenging international cross-border jurisdictional decisions.

As a specialist in family finance, I can also offer practical advice and detailed preparation and cross-examination in all aspects of financial work. I’ve got experience in cases where there are assets (up to £40 million), trust assets, business interests, intervening parties, a foreign or jurisdictional element, estates and also where there are aspects of conduct or asset dissipation (where assets are intentionally wasted or used up) before or within the proceedings. I also handle cases involving inheritance provision, TOLATA (where claims to property or the family home are sought by a cohabitee) and Schedule 1 Children Act Claims (claims which tend to arise when cohabiting parties separate).

Finally, I undertake all aspects of judicial review work particularly in the field of children, families, and decisions by Local Authorities regarding funding and involving policy considerations. I also have considerable expertise in cases involving the Court of Protection where I’ve acted in both welfare matters as well as all aspects of a patient’s property and affairs.
