I became a barrister in 2017, specialising in family law.
Prior to becoming a barrister, I worked for a family law firm in their Northampton office as a paralegal, this gave me a strong foundation in family law.
I also gained considerable family law advocacy experience working as an advocate at a mid-sized law firm in Milton Keynes. In this role, I attended a variety of public law hearings and a large number of private law hearings, allowing me to build significant advocacy experience before becoming a barrister.
Care and Adoption
I am regularly instructed in multi-day final and composite hearings. I have a range of experience in this area including representing clients with limited or no capacity, Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) proceedings and non-accidental injury and neglect cases.
I also have experience in applications for the amendment of care and placement orders.
Private Law Children
I have experience representing applicants, respondents and guardians in private child matters. I am frequently instructed on multi-day final and fact finding hearings, including cases involving domestic abuse allegations and parental alienation.
I have also been instructed on internal and external relocation cases.
Injunction and Domestic Abuse
I have experience in representing applicants and respondents in applications for non-molestation and occupation orders.
Having previously worked in the Emergency Proceedings Department at a solicitors firm, I have extensive experience in applications of this nature.
Financial Remedies
I am experienced in representing applicants, respondents and intervenors in a variety of financial remedies proceedings. I also have experience with Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA) matters.
I undertake both written advisory work as well as advocacy.
Court of Protection
I have a strong interest in Court of Protection matters having represented clients with limited or no capacity and volunteering at a charity to ensure that children with special educational needs have the correct Education, Health and Care plans.
