I’m a specialist family law barrister, with experience in both public law and private cases involving children and domestic abuse. I’m also experienced in the complex matters of family and matrimonial finance.
I qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and in 2005 transferred to the bar. Since then, I’ve continued to specialise in family law, including children and family and matrimonial finance. Throughout my legal career I’ve developed a practical, but approachable manner when working with clients whilst offering clear and sensitive advice wherever possible.
My care and adoption expertise includes representing parents, children and local authorities in care and adoption proceedings. I have a degree in psychology, including modules in attachment theory and the cognitive and social development of children which really helps me understand and appreciate the complex needs of children.
My private law expertise spans 20 years with experience in representing vulnerable adults and children in complex cases involving intractable disputes (where a child or vulnerable adult is resisting contact without objective justification), domestic violence and child protection.
In terms of family finance, I’m an experienced advocate in matrimonial finance cases, cohabitee disputes and for intervenors. I’m also able to represent you at Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) hearings which are judge-led meetings for the discussion and negotiation of financial issues during a divorce.
